Project New Futures
New Futures is a consortium of the SE professional development centres. The Skills for Life Development Centre (CfBT Education Trust), working with the Essential Skills Support Unit and Thames Valley Professional Development Network will lead this project throughout the South East region.
ProjectProfessionalising the Skills for Life Workforce
To optimise funding & pool expertise Thames Valley PDN will work in synergy with the other four SE PDNs (ESSU for Hampshire and the IOW, Kent and Medway PDNs and The Innovation Centre for Sussex and Surrey) to provide a co-ordinated SfL project for the South East. We also work closely with the Institute for Learning and the NRDC who help coordinate activities across the South East.
ProjectLLUK and NRDC - Skills for Life teacher education: creative routes to qualified status
The focus of this project is to develop an innovative and flexible approach to subject specialist (Literacy/Numeracy/ESOL) provision and to promote a collaborative partnership of Learning and Skills Sector stakeholders and providers of initial teacher training (ITT) in the geographical area of the Thames Valley.

This was the original funding used to establish the Professional Development Network. This funding was to run from April 04 – December 06. Due to its great success and due to ESF under spend the project was given extra funding to ensure that the services could continue across Berkshire.

Engaging Disadvantaged Learners and promoting Progression and Achievement
This project aimed to develop high quality learning opportunities for learners who face multiple disadvantage and who have not previously been engaged in education or training in recent years.

Voluntary and Community Skills
We aimed to work with a number of providers in the Thames Valley to build capability to meet the needs of learners who may benefit from Skills for Life support.
