Professionalising the Skills for Life Workforce

The overarching aim of Thames Valley PDN was to:

  • Enable the Post Compulsory Sector professionals to identify & meet SfL needs & improve the quality of SfL provision
  • Ensure sustainable development & delivery of the CPD requirements in this sector.

To optimise funding & pool expertise Thames Valley PDN will work in synergy with the other four SE PDNs (ESSU for Hampshire and the IOW, Kent and Medway PDNs and The Innovation Centre for Sussex and Surrey) to provide a co-ordinated SfL project for the South East. We also work closely with the Institute for Learning and the NRDC who help coordinate activities across the South East.

This sub-regional project incorporated best practice guidance from the RETRO project, taking into account research findings re: - local teaching and learning activities, from organisations such as the NRDC.

  • Our delivery supported each learner from initial engagement, through IAG & support networks for L3&L4 courses, mentoring in SfL CPD learning; as well as support into employment where required.  Our target group comprised people facing many different barriers to success in learning and employment.
  • Expertise in SfL & Interactive (blended) learning provision areas highlighted as part of our added value within this project.
